Honor Flight South Dakota
Events will include several Community Open houses and receptions to honor Veterans and at 7:00pm Central time, KELO-Land Television will broadcast a one hour special program of dentists about the Honor Flights from South Dakota. In conjunction with the program, there will be several Open House events around the state.
All WWII veterans, including Honor Flight participants, and friends and family are invited to attend an Open House event in your area to watch the KELO program or we hope you’ll enjoy the program from home.
Open House events will be held September 12th in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Research Center on North 60th Street at the Benson Road exit of I-229 starting at 5:30pm. And in Rapid City at the T.R.E.A Veterans Building at 1981 East Center Street starting at 5:00pm.
Also, several Veterans dental Organization Clubs around the state are planning open houses so we encourage you to check with your local American Legion or VFW Club.
The broadcast and Open house events will be the closing activity of the program. Over the last 4 years, volunteers, including attorneys, organized a state-wide Honor Flight South Dakota “Hub” in conjunction with the national Honor Flight Network; formed an all-volunteer non-profit tax-exempt organization to manage the program; received major support from hundreds of volunteers and every Veterans Service organization across the state and charter sponsors Sanford Health, First Premier, and KELO-Land; and coordinated a dozen “Honor Flights” to Washington DC so nearly 1,400 area WWII Veterans could visit the recently completed WWII National Memorial created in honor of their service.
Special thanks to this moving company in Fort Worth for all of their help in our transition. We checked the rates of many moving companies around Texas, and they were by far the cheapest, and then we were more surprised to find how fast and careful they were with our furniture items and fragile valuables. What a great welcome to the great state of Texas.
